Trudie Teijink
My works form an investigation of the fragility of human life and involve feelings of fortitude, loss, and desire. Formation, decay, and the conflicts between our everyday life and the fleetingness of our existence form a constant undercurrent in my work. I experience this ephemerality profoundly in the vast Nebraska landscape that inspires many of my pieces.
I emulate the interplay between synthesis and loss by arranging individual visual elements on a 2D format using mixed media such as painting, drawing, collage, and printmaking. I investigate the emerging interactions between the components, allowing a larger organism to grow from individual cells.
